Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a small metallic green beetle native to Asia. Discovered in Illinois in 2006, it has since spread throughout northeast Illinois and remote locations in east central Illinois. If trees go untreated, the death rate is 100 percent. If infested trees are not treated or removed, the Emerald Ash Borer will continue its destructive path moving on to other ash trees - eventually wiping out all Ash trees. Can you identify EAB? What if trees need to be removed? Are there any treatment options- how long do they last? University of Illinois Extention is offering six EAB Homeowner Management programs in northeastern and east central Illinois. There is no fee to attend, but reservations are required for all locations. To register, contact the University of Illinois Extension office serving as host for the event. Questions?
