2008 Summer Youth Programs

Play Camp

Playcamp is a morning camp program which is designed for children between the ages of four to six years. This camp program will provide activities such as sports, games, songs, stories and daily themes. A special weekly arts/crafts project is included. The mini camp program is offered in three, three-week sessions, 9:00 am -11:00 am, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Please note that registration will be offered two weeks prior to the beginning of each session. Register early to ensure camp is not canceled. No camp July 4th.

Day Camp

The ultimate summer experience for youngsters between the ages of seven to twelve years. The camp is structured around three, three-week sessions, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm A full range of activities will include special event days, sports, games, arts, crafts, fitness, water fun and outdoor education. The program is designed to ensure your child of a safe and fun summer. A special event trip will be provided for each session. A day camp T-shirt is included. Please note that registration will be offered two weeks prior to each camp! Register early to ensure camp is not cancelled. No camp on July. 4th.

Pre and Post Camp Care

This program is designed with the working parent in mind. Participants will gear up for a day at camp or wind down after. Enrollment will correspond to days and times of camp. Please note Pre Camp Care is available for Day and Play Camp. Post Camp Care for Day Camp only. Please register two weeks prior to each camp! Camp Care is held at he Community Center, 16553 S. Haven Ave. No camp on July 4th.

Keepers and Creepers

This activity is a beginning tumbling program which is designed to enhance the child's fundamental and physical skills. Special equipment is used to help increase their coordination and play. Each session consists of five classes. Please note that an Adult Must Accompany Child. No Class July 4th.

U.G.A. Tumbling Programs

The Orland Hills Recreation Department is proud to announce a new Gym Masters Tumbling Program offered by the United Gymnastics Academy (U.G.A.). The United Gymnastics Academy Program is designed to deliver an age appropriate curriculum that is focused on safety and technique. Please note that each session is for five classes. Children’s Dance

The Village of Orland Hills proudly presents a new dance program by Turning Pointe Dance Academy Classes taught by Academy Director: Miss Nicole Gouletsos Sign up for our dance program. Give your child a chance to learn gracefulness and expression as they are guided through the basics of dance.

Ballet

This is a five-week course designed for the beginner ballerina. In Ballet, students will learn discipline, memory skills, balance, strength, grace, coordination, and have tons of fun! Children will learn basic ballet steps, feet positions and combinations. Class will culminate with an informal showing for parents so our
Little Ballerinas can show what they’ve learned.

Jazz & Hip Hop

A five-week dynamic, energetic dance class that will have students “movin and groovin” like never before. Jazz Hip Hop dance is a combination of jazz and current dance styles set to the music of today. This class encourages individualism and will culminate with an informal showing for parents at the end of the session.

Bumper Bowling & Bowling League

Learn to bowl in our exclusive eight-week bowling league. Children will receive a pizza party at the end of the session. Fee includes two games of bowling per week and shoe rental. Parents are required to stay on site with their children.

Floor Hockey

This six-week course will consist of instructional classes for boysand girls in the sport of floor hockey. The program will contain basic fundamentals, rules, regulations and round robin play. A free T-shirt and participation award is included.

Teen Basketball

Come be a part of our Co-Ed Basketball League. An eight-week-session in which boys and girls will first learn the basic fundamentals of basketball which includes dribbling, passing, and shooting. All players will be drafted on a team. For the first two weeks, players will meet for Basketball Clinics on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Team practices will be held on Wednesdays. Scheduled games will be held on Saturdays. We are looking for volunteer coaches for some teams. A free T-shirt, shorts, participation award, practices, and games included.

T-Ball

An instructional sports program that puts learning skills, participation and fun at the top of the list. We offer a unique opportunity for boys and girls to enjoy learning T-ball skills and sportsmanship in a low pressure, fun environment. Participants furnish their own glove and will play on the new Kelly Park T-Ball Field #4. All participants receive an Orland Hills T-Ball Program cap, T-shirt and participation award. This class will meet for twelve sessions.

Co-Ed Basketball

A six-week activity in which boys and girls will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball.
The fundamentals will include dribbling, passing and shooting. Team play will be highlighted.
A free T-shirt and participation award will be given to each participant. No class July 4th.

Dodgeball Camp

Come join the fun and register for our new Dodgeball Program. Participants will be taught individual ball skills along with team play. Official rules will be taught regarding the game, playing field, equipment, and code of conduct. All participants will receive a T-shirt. This program wil meet for eight sessions. No class July 4th.

Summer Soccer Camp

Come join our new five-day Soccer Camp. Participants will be taught individual basic skills, passing, heading and shooting. Rule interpretation will be discussed along with team positions. Small sideline games will be included. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt.

Bill Finn's Basketball Camp

This 3-Day Summer Basketball Camp will provide basic skill instruction while also offering full court games each session. Players will be grouped by age and ability. There will be awards presented for winners of the 1 on 1 Contest, Free Throw Contest, and the 3 Point Shooting Contest.
