Children need to be properly restrained in a child safety seat until they are at least:

  • 8 years old
  • are taller than 4-foot, 9-inches
  • weigh more than 80 lbs

All passengers must wear a safety belt, regardless of the age and where they are seated. All children age 12 and younger should ride in the back seat.
